Thunderstorms with Snowfall Expected in the Western & Upper Parts
Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hilly areas in northern, central, and western parts of Pakistan on Thursday and Friday.
Isolated rainfall with thunderstorms (snowfall over the hills) is expected in Murree, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Galliyat, Dir, Swat, Haripur, Manshera, Buner, Kohistan, Shangla, and Abbottabad.
Thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are expected in Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Gujrat, Sialkot, Toba Tek Singh, Charsada, Mandi Bahauddin, Bannu, Kasur, Waziristan, Nowshera, Pothohar region, Swabi, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Nankana Sahib, Karak, Narowal, Bajaur, Faisalabad, Khushab, Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat, Kurram, Mianwali, Sargodha, Jhang, and Buner.
Light to moderate rainfall with snowfall is expected over the hills in Quetta, Qila Saifullah, Qillah Abdullah, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan, Chamman, and Pishin.
Advisory Issued by PMD:
- Roads in areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli may be closed due to heavy snowfall.
- During this time, the possibility of landslides in Upper KPK, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan should be considered.
- Tourists are advised to take extra precautions during these days.
- PMD has also advised the concerned authorities to remain alert during this forecast period.
