Mamtu: The dumplings of Northern Pakistan
Mamtu is a steamed boiled dumpling filled with minced meat of lamb or beef. The meat is mixed with onion, chili, garlic, and different traditional spices. It is usually served with sauce and toppings such as yogurt, parsley, vinegar, and chili sauce. The grated meat sauteed with spices is wrapped up in the flour and then steamed is just amazing and delicious.

It is also called Gilgit-Baltistan samosa. The only difference is that it is not fried but steamed. They are called the “Dumpling of the North”. This dish is actually from China and was adopted by the people of Gilgit and now is famous as Mamtu.
