Karachi Set to Revolutionize Traffic Updates with New Screens

Karachi, the bustling metropolis of Pakistan, is taking a giant leap towards transforming its traffic management system. In a recent development, the city is gearing up to provide commuters with real-time traffic updates, making daily travel more efficient and less stressful. The driving force behind this innovative project is none other than Riffat Mukhtar Raja, the Sindh Police Chief. During a visit to the DIG Traffic office, he issued orders to kickstart this transformation. His vision is clear: to enhance the overall traffic management system in Karachi and ensure that citizens have easy access to crucial traffic-related information.

To bring this vision to life, Riffat Mukhtar Raja has given the green light for the installation of 10 Surface-Mounted Device (SMD) screens on key roads throughout Karachi. These screens are strategically placed at points where they can have the most significant impact, ensuring that the majority of commuters can benefit from them. These high-tech screens will be instrumental in keeping the public informed and traffic flowing smoothly.

One of the primary functions of these SMD screens is to provide real-time traffic updates. Commuters will be able to see, at a glance, if there are any traffic jams or disruptions on their intended routes. This is a game-changer for Karachi, where traffic congestion has been a persistent issue for years.

Riffat Mukhtar Raja also emphasized the importance of raising awareness about traffic laws, especially among young people at educational institutions. The Inspector General (IG) was also briefed on other initiatives by the traffic police. One noteworthy development is the installation of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at various locations in the city, including 26 spots along Shahrah-e-Faisal. These cameras are essential in monitoring traffic and identifying any violations, contributing to enhanced traffic management.
