Snowfall in various parts of Northern Balochistan
Various parts of Northern Balochistan including Toba Achakzai mountain range, Ziarat, and Kan Metarzai receive heavy snowfall and rain on Wednesday morning.
Snowfall has boosted tourism in northern Balochistan. However, no road had been blocked due to snow. The provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) instructed all its technical staff and deployed heavy machinery to prevent road blockage and to ensure an uninterrupted flow of traffic from Ziarat to Quetta and other areas of Balochistan.
PDMA Director-General Naseer Ahmed Nasar said, “We have put deputy commissioners of 12 districts on high alert to tackle any emergency situation.”
He also added that there is no traffic jam due to snow and that PDMA technical teams are assisting the tourists and passengers.
Levies personnel also engaged in removing snow from roads in Ziarat to prevent road obstruction and to make sure smooth traffic flow.
The mountain ranges of Kan Mehtarzai, Toba Kakarai, and Toba Achakzai, the mountainous ranges bordering Afghanistan also received heavy snowfall. There is also heavy rainfall in Swat on Wednesday.
Heavy machinery was deployed at the main Khojak Top linking Pakistan with Afghanistan to prevent road blockage and to help the passengers traveling between the two countries.
The weather is turning colder and people are preferring to stay in their homes. While tourists are rushing toward these areas to enjoy a glimpse of snowfall.
The locals of these areas are complaining about gas load shedding. Despite this freezing temperature, there has been no gas pressure since Wednesday morning.
