PIA's Independence Day Discount: 14% Off on All Domestic Flights
As Pakistan stands on the brink of celebrating its 76th year of independence, the nation's flag bearer, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), has unfurled a special Independence Day discount for its domestic travelers.
In a resounding declaration via its official Twitter handle, PIA has unveiled an exceptional 14 percent price reduction on the entirety of its domestic flight roster slated for the momentous date of 14th August. This gesture not only serves as a token of appreciation to its loyal patrons but also resonates with the fervor and pride that envelopes the country during this commemorative period.
The national airline's representative has characterized this exclusive offer as a "deeply meaningful gesture" bestowed upon the citizens of Pakistan in commemoration of Independence Day.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is poised to inaugurate the inaugural international flight departing from Skardu Airport to Dubai on the occasion of Independence Day.
Following the maiden flight, the airline is slated to operate weekly flights between Dubai and Skardu, with departures from Dubai on Saturdays and from Skardu to Dubai on Tuesdays, constituting a new travel opportunity for enthusiasts.
The airline's spokesperson has indicated that subsequent to its Skardu sojourn, the Dubai-Skardu flight will proceed to Islamabad, thereby enhancing the convenience for passengers.
It is worth noting that PIA introduced non-stop flights between Karachi and Skardu in the month of June, subsequent to the commencement of direct flights from Lahore. The inaugural Lahore-Skardu flight took to the skies on the 3rd of June.
Standing as the solitary airport in northern Pakistan equipped to handle large aircraft, Skardu Airport assumes its significance due to the inadequacy of runway lengths at Gilgit and Chitral airports for accommodating long-haul flights.
In a significant milestone dating back to December 2021, the former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, accorded international status to Skardu Airport. However, the complete exploitation of its potential was hindered by the absence of a proper refueling facility tailored for international flights.
The impediment has been successfully surmounted, with the inauguration of the refueling facility scheduled for today, the 11th of August. This auspicious development paves the way for the inaugural international flight from the airport, marking a noteworthy leap forward in its operational capabilities.
