Sindh Govt Approved the Purchase of 43 Hybrid Buses for Karachi

The Sindh government has finally approved the budget for the purchase of 43 hybrid buses to Karachi. It is going to spend Rs1.7 billion for 43 extra 12-meter hybrid buses under its public transport project.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a cabinet meeting about the idea to increase the number of buses in Karachi. Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon gave a briefing of this cabinet meeting. The CM approved his recommendation and announced that Rs1.7 billion will be released for 43 hybrid buses.

The cabinet also discussed launching the bus service for tourist sites in Sindh. This initiative will help to enhance tourism in the province. Culture Minister Syed Sardar Shah submitted a written proposal so that buses could be launched from Karachi to main tourist sites such as Ranikot, Keenjhar, Thar, and other areas.

Under the People’s Bus Service (PBS) project, 250 air-conditioned buses were imported from China. Currently, 130 of these buses are operated on 9 different routes in Karachi, 10 in Hyderabad, and 6 in Larkana.
